Quad Play Solutions Over Optical Fibre
There is an increasing need for designing high-speed broadband networks to accommodate usage of vanguard services that demand extensive bandwidth, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities, Telecare, Over the Top TV (OTT), Ultra High Definition, and others. When the demand for broadband access is so high, only a network architecture based on fiber optics can guarantee the required quality of service.
ONT For GPON Solutions
The Optical Network Terminal or ONT is the device in charge of delivering the operator services subscribed by the user. The terminal range conforms to installation and implemented services criteria; Televes has up to 4 ONT ranges of products (Basic, Standard, O ce and Home). ONT can be used on FTTx network topologies: Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), Fiber-to-the-Room (FTTR), Fiber-to-the-Building (FTTB), Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTb), Fiber-to-the-Curb (FTTC), etc.
ITUG.984.x-compliant, multiple-play signals provided at the FibreData headend are available at its connectors; signals such as the high-speed Internet (High-Speed Internet – HSI), VoIP , WiFi, IPTV and/or RF Overlay, etc.
ONT BASIC: it consists of a bridge-type device that carries out a simple media conversion. It is the perfect solution for environments where there is a LAN network management.
ONT OFFICE: provides GbE ports and a WiFi interface. It’s a device that allows to directly services several users. One of the references in this range of products includes 802.11 ac.
ONT STANDARD: includes RF Overlay reception on top of ONT BASIC features. With this solution, the device delivers the services to a sub-headend (FTTC/FTTB/FTTR).
ONT HOME: it provides TV signal on top of the ONT OFFICE features. One of the references in this range of products includes 802.11 ac.
Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) is the leading fiber access technology for delivering gigabit Internet services to residential and business subscribers.
GPON Structured Cabling gives the end user the ability to consolidate multiple services onto a single fiber transport network. This technology reduces costs and infrastructure while increasing bandwidth. It provides 2.5 GB/s of downstream bandwidth and 1.25 GB/s upstream divided by the split ratio to each customer delivering a customizable, high capacity fiber network for forms of IP based services.
These networks are the perfect solution for environments with multiple separated nodes/points or buildings. GPON provides for a large range of benefits that enable rapid, flexible, mass‐market fiber deployments at the lowest possible cost of ownership and roll-out.
